Daybrook Lodge, a Nottingham-based Freemasons Lodge under the Provincial Grand Lodge of Nottinghamshire, has proudly donated £500 to Nottingham Trent University (NTU) in support of its Student Success Endowment Fund. This initiative provides bursaries to students from low-income backgrounds, helping them to overcome financial barriers and focus on achieving their academic potential.

Freemasonry has long been dedicated to supporting charitable causes and fostering a strong sense of community. Daybrook Lodge is honoured to contribute to NTU’s mission of ensuring that all students, regardless of financial circumstances, have the opportunity to thrive.
Richard Clamp, Daybrook Lodge Member and current NTU law student, and Matthew Triggs, Lodge Secretary, recently met with NTU fundraising staff and a student who has directly benefited from the bursary scheme.
“NTU is a tremendous institution which, like Freemasonry, gives a lot to the city and community” said Triggs. “We’re thrilled to be able to support students from low-income backgrounds during their time in our city and help them make the most of the opportunity it provides”.
Naomi Olaoye, NTU student and beneficiary of the scheme said “The Opportunity Bursary scheme has been instrumental in allowing me to pursue my interests. Receiving this bursary enabled me to get some of the startup equipment that I need. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to those who have donated to support the Student Success Endowment. Thank you for giving me the chance to succeed.”

Daybrook Lodge is a member of the Universities Scheme, a national initiative that encourages engagement with students and academic institutions. This programme aims to introduce students and young professionals to Freemasonry’s core values of integrity, friendship, respect, and service.
Daybrook Lodge welcomes anyone interested in learning more about Freemasonry, especially students who may be curious about its traditions and values. Those wishing to find out more or get involved are encouraged to reach out to the Lodge.

Philip Marshall, the head of Freemasonry in Nottinghamshire, said " The generous gesture by the members of Daybrook Lodge is a fine example of the support given each year by the County’s Freemasons to many worthy and deserving causes and illustrates the commitment by the organisation to assist individuals and groups within the various communities across Nottinghamshire.”
