TLC visit to Charity Me & Dee

TLC Visit to Charity Me & Dee.

The charity ‘me&dee’ has been 15 years in the making and serving the East Midlands community, the result and dream of two extremely poorly but ambitious women.

The charity has a simple but huge humanitarian mission, to ensure families going through difficult and uncertain times are gifted with memories they can treasure, never losing sight of what truly matters. In most cases a family member has a life limiting illness, of short timescale.

Over 3,000 families have been helped over this time, from the early days of a ‘treat’ charity to now providing a holiday at no charge, in their new lodge, based at Sherwood Hideaway in Sherwood Forest, a place to enjoy peace and quiet, a place to make memories. For those unable to have a break the charity provides special ‘family days out’ to give one, often last, special memory for all concerned.

On Saturday 4th December, TLC Committee member W Bro Barry Woodhead, together with Bro Bill Ashley from Newton Lodge no. 1661, met with CEO and founder Maria Hanson MBE and her partner Mark Harrison to hand over their first box of TLC Teddies that will be used to add to a welcome and ‘memory box’ for the family, and add comfort as and when necessary.

In addition, a box of large teddies was donated to them for further fund raising and other activities.
