Robin Hood Chapter Presentation

Robin Hood chapter number 1493 contacted the Nottinghamshire Sojourners and invited them to attend the meeting on the 24th of October the purpose being to present a lecture selected by the chapter, a PowerPoint explanation of the Holy Royal Arch Jewel which in itself had been compiled and created by companion Bryan Spilsbury (Provincial Almoner). Accordingly companion John Doyle attended the chapter meeting and delivered the presentation.

The meeting was notable in part for the presence of companion Richard Howarth who, while a member of the Robin Hood chapter, is also the Second Provincial Grand Principal of Nottinghamshire. Interestingly, a past Inspector General, companion Graham Aitken was also present. Companion Richard was, of course, offered the Sceptre and that offer was dealt with in a witty and informative manner following which the meeting continued under the stewardship of “MEZ” companion D G Pearse.

The evening and meeting was further enhanced by the presentation of a certificate recognising 50 years membership of the Holy Royal Arch of companion Norman Shepherd who, following the presentation, responded with amusing and informative anecdotes which touched upon his long membership and which, had time allowed, could no doubt have been extended for the entire evening.

Returning to the Royal Arch Jewel presentation - the members present gave courteous and attentive attention which companion John suggested perhaps ought to be followed up with, or might have been preceded by, an explanation of the Five Regular Platonic Bodies this being a separate lecture and of course both lectures are to be highly commended as indeed are others within the library of The Nottinghamshire Sojourners all and any of which are available to every chapter in the province and may be arranged by contacting the Provincial Grand Scribe Ezra.

There were a total of twenty-nine companions in attendance on the evening twelve of which were visitors.
