Radcliffe with Hemlock Stone Lodge supports TLC Nottinghamshire Charity
The Coronavirus Pandemic has caused major disruption for well over a year to Masonic meetings and social gatherings.
This in turn has caused severe financial difficulties for the various Masonic buildings in and around Nottingham. So, when there were signs of restrictions being eased the Radcliffe with Hemlock Stone Lodge set about planning a socially distanced Sunday Lunch at the Welbeck Hall location in West Bridgford.
The event was held on Sunday 27th June 2021, when the rules allowed socially distanced dining and lodge members took up all available tables in the main dining room with the staff providing table service for both drinks and food.
The Lodge WM, W Bro. Phil Smith stayed on in the chair of the Lodge for a second term due to the disruption that the pandemic caused. The disruption also put paid to any chance of a Ladies Night for Phil and his wife Pauline however this Sunday Lunch provided a small opportunity for members to show them both our support.
The photo below shows Phil’s wife Pauline being presented with a bouquet of flowers as a thank you for the support which she has provided to Phil over effectively a two-year period. Phil and Pauline decided to hold a raffle on the day with the proceeds going to local charity ‘Teddies for Loving Care’ (TLC) Nottinghamshire. The raffle was a great success with the charity benefiting to the tune of £320. This will provide much-needed funds to help in the continued supply of TLC bears so that children in distress in hospitals across Nottinghamshire are able to have a friend with them whilst going through potentially traumatic treatments.
The feedback from doctors and nursing staff is that their sometimes very difficult job is made so much easier by the presence of the bear as a friend to the child. Pauline Smith said she was only too pleased that the Lodge and its members had been able to provide much-needed support to the West Bridgford venue by holding the event there and also to have raised funds for such a worthy charity as TLC.
