Hello, and a warm welcome to the information page of this old, well respected and friendly Holy Royal Arch Chapter.
In early 1886 the Grand Superintendent was petitioned with respect to a Royal Arch Chapter being formed in connection with Annesley Lodge and, that it should bear the same name.
The petition bore the names of Companions of Abbey Chapter and Brethren of the Annesley and Forest Lodges. A Warrant was granted on 4th August,1886 and the Consecration ceremony was held on the 8th December, at 4 pm, of the same year.
It is worthy of note that, at this time, the Grand Superintendent of England was H.R.H. Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, K.G., also, that the petitioners and those elected into membership were very active and well respected businessmen and members of the Nottinghamshire society; in particular, John Tricks Spalding, of Griffin and Spalding, who was a J.P., an Alderman and a Mayor of Nottingham.
The Chapter started with a Companionship of twenty which was gradually increased until it reached its peak of sixty nine in 1901. The membership stayed in the sixties, apart, that is, from wartime periods. At the time of writing the membership is thirty two - for although we have had an influx of new members, sadly several of our senior and revered members have passed to the Grand Chapter Above in the past year. The future is looking bright for the Chapter with a pipeline of candidates extending to more than a few.
Our meetings take place on the first Mondays of December (Installation), February, April and October; rehearsals are held on the preceding Monday.
The Chapter celebrated its 125th anniversary on the 5th of December 2011, and I (webmaster) was fortunate enough to be the MEZ - and honour and privilege which will live with me always.
