On Monday 12th November 2018, I visited Hayman Chapter on behalf of the Nottinghamshire Sojourners. The evening began with the appointment and investiture of three officers who were unavoidably absent for the Installation meeting.
Following this, the ME Grand Superintendent, E. Companion Richard Gutteridge, presented E. Companion John Smee with a certificate of congratulation for the completion of 50 years of service to the Holy Royal Arch. In presenting this certificate, the ME Grand Superintendent made reference to his early connection to John, and the shared experiences along the way, a journey thoroughly enjoyed by both, with several references to the hard work and commitment shown by John throughout that time (see attached file).
Following the presentation, it was my turn to ‘entertain’ the Chapter with a Powerpoint presentation of the history and formation of the twelve tribes of Israel, and the Israelitish nation, their banners and the connection to the Holy Royal Arch.
The presentation was well received by the companions. The MEZ then thanked and congratulated me for the work, and instructed the Scribe E. to record the Chapter’s appreciation.
The next item of business was a very competent recital of the Symbolical lecture, shared by E. Companions Terry Straw, Paul Foister, and Graham Hayward.
The Festive Board, attended by 28 members and visitors, had a very happy and relaxed atmosphere during which E. Companion John Smee was presented with a gift from the chapter and a special gift from the ME Grand Superintendent. John replied and related to some very sincere memories of Hayman Chapter, and spoke of looking forward to the years ahead.
Chris Yates, a Nottinghamshire Sojourner.
